Eric Streitberg

Mr Eric Streitberg

Executive Chairman

Mr Streitberg has more than 40 years of experience in petroleum geology and geophysics, oil and gas exploration and oil and gas company management. He was a founding shareholder and held the position of Managing Director of ARC Energy Limited from 1997 until August 2008, during which time ARC Energy Limited was transformed from a junior oil and gas exploration company into a mid-size Australian oil and gas producer.  Mr Streitberg was also the founding shareholder and Managing Director of Discovery Petroleum which was a key participant in the renaissance of the Perth Basin as a significant gas producer until the takeover of the company in 1996.  Prior to that he held various senior international exploration roles with Occidental Petroleum and BP.  He was a founding shareholder and Non-executive Director of Adelphi Energy Limited from 2005 until its takeover in 2010.  He is a founding shareholder of Buru Energy and has been a Director since its listing in October 2008.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Mr Streitberg is a Director and past Chair of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association and has also chaired the APPEA Exploration and Environment Committees.  He is the immediate past Chair of the Marine Parks and Reserves Authority of Western Australia.

Mr Streitberg is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and Geophysicist and holds a Bachelor of Science (App. Geoph.) from the University of Queensland.

Kris Waddington

Dr Kris Waddington

Chief Operating Officer

Dr Waddington completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2008 at which time Kris took on a role as Senior Research Fellow at UWA where he applied specialist techniques developed in the university to improve environmental impact assessments undertaken by industry. This included providing specialist advice and improving environmental outcomes on a number of major resource projects including the Pluto, Gorgon and Wheatstone projects. Upon leaving UWA, Kris worked in an environmental consultancy and managed state and federal environmental approvals processes. Kris has been with Buru Energy since mid-2012 and helped deliver the environmental approvals for our fraccing program as well as working closely with Traditional Owners including the Yungngora (Noonkanbah) and Yawuru groups.

Shane McDermott

Mr Shane McDermott

CFO and Company Secretary

Mr McDermott, CA, AGIA, BComm (Accounting and Finance) has an accounting and auditing background having worked at a large international accounting practice for five years at its Perth office before joining Buru Energy in 2009. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and an Associate of the Governance Institute of Australia. 

Alex Forcke

Mr Alex Forcke

General Manager – Commercial

Mr Forcke, BComm (UWA), MAICD, is a public company executive with considerable financial and commercial experience gained in over 30 years in both the resources and investment banking industries. Mr Forcke was the Executive Chairman of Adelphi Energy Limited, a successful ASX listed oil & gas explorer with US shale gas interests. He was also a long standing Director of ARC Energy Limited in a commercial and financial executive role and more recently held a non-executive director role at Entek Energy before joining Buru in mid-2017. Prior to entering the oil and gas industry, Mr Forcke had established an international career in project finance and investment banking, including the position as WA State Manager and Director of Project and Specialised Finance for AIDC Ltd.

Frank Glass

Mr Frank Glass

General Manager – Exploration

Mr Glass joined Buru in July 2018 and has 32 years of experience in both technical and managerial roles in hydrocarbon exploration and production. For most of his career he was employed by Shell International and worked in various international locations, including USA, The Netherlands, Malaysia, Australia and UK. His roles included acting as Asia-Pacific regional exploration advisor, supervising and assuring technical and economic inputs into regional exploration projects for Shell International. As an independent consultant, Frank has advised regional oil and gas companies on technical aspects of commercial transactions and strategic decisions relating to exploration and early development projects. He is a member of the Petroleum Society of Australia, Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers and South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society.

David Long

Mr David Long

General Manager - New Ventures

Mr Long joined Buru in July 2013 and has 26 years of technical and managerial experience in exploration and production. He was previously located overseas with Shell International, Premier Oil and PDO  in the UK, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, Netherlands, Indonesia, and Oman. On emigrating to Australia in 2004, Mr Long spent six years with Woodside working on international and Australian exploration opportunities, followed by two years with Apache on Asia-wide new business. In addition to seismic interpretation and regional geological evaluations, Mr Long has also had roles in seismic acquisition, quantitative interpretation, field development and heavy oil steam injection tertiary recovery. He is a Geophysicist with a Masters degree from Imperial College, London.

Mark Devereux

Mr Mark Devereux

General Manager - Development Subsurface

Mr Devereux joined Buru in November 2013 and has more than 25 years of technical and managerial experience primarily in offshore exploration and entirely with operating companies. He has previously worked for international operating companies including Arco, Mobil and OMV and also for former Australian independent Ampol Exploration Limited mostly on Australian exploration and new venture opportunities. Prior to joining Buru, Mr Devereux held the position of Exploration Manager for OMV’s Australian exploration portfolio of 11 operated offshore permits for eight years. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia.

Ibrahim Kale

Mr Ibrahim Kale

Drilling Manager

Mr Kale has over 15 years of international oil & gas experience working with major operators including Shell, Woodside, Apache, Quadrant & Beach. He has been responsible for roles including Drilling Manager, Drilling Supervisor, Lead Drilling Engineer, Senior Design Engineer & Operations Engineer. He has worked on a variety of onshore and offshore projects in field and office based roles supporting Semi-Submersibles, Drill Ships, Jack-Ups, Tender Barges, Platforms, Hydraulic Workover Units & Land Rigs. Working in developed and undeveloped countries with logistically challenging environments, harsh weather conditions, political issues, cultural and language barriers has developed his skills to implement fit for purpose management systems to deliver excellent HSSE and operational performance through his unique leadership and management style.
